In September 2025, we received news that Shane has a malignant tumor in the back of his throat. Because of the location, if it were removed, basically his whole tongue would be removed. Not an option. it is being treated with daily radiation and intermittent chemotherapy.

its gone well so far, but here at the beginning of week 4 (of 7) the side effects are starting to show. He has lost basically as his sense of taste due to the location of the radiation. He needs to take in a minimum of 2000 calories per day, which is hard considering everything tastes “like mushy Sheetrock” according to him. The Ensure and other supplements he uses are not cheap and he needs at least 4 per day. He has blisters in his mouth that make it very painful to talk and eat.

Obviously he cannot work during this time. We have my retirement and social security, along with his social security. Unfortunately by the time you add all the day to day expenses in and medical bills coming in, it doesn’t to as far as we need it to.

Because of all of this, we are reaching out to our community of friends and family again. I know things are tight at Christmas for everyone. However, every bit helps.
