28 Hours. 28 Runs. 2.8 Miles Every Hour.
Last year, we lost Shane Richardson far too soon. Shane was a loving family man, a loyal friend, and someone who left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to know him. His passing has left an unimaginable gap in the lives of those closest to him, especially his family.
To honour Shane’s memory and help support his partner and two children, I’ll be taking on a challenge that represents endurance, commitment, and showing up no matter how difficult things get — just like Shane always did for the people around him.
I will be running 2.8 miles every hour for 28 consecutive hours.
The challenge will both start and finish at Athena Performance, where anyone is welcome to come along, support, or join in on any of the hourly loops.
The first run will begin at 12 midday on Saturday 13th June, with the challenge continuing every hour for the following 28 hours. That’s:
78.4 total miles
28 separate runs
28 hours with little rest
All to raise funds for Shane’s family.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go toward helping ease some of the financial pressure on Shane’s loved ones during an incredibly difficult time.
This challenge is about more than running. It’s about community, remembrance, and doing something meaningful for a family that deserves support.
I’d also love for people to get involved throughout the challenge. If you want to join me for any of the hourly 2.8 mile loops — whether you’d prefer to walk or run — you’re more than welcome. Even joining for a single hour would mean a lot and would help show support for Shane and his family.
If you knew Shane, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating his life and helping the people he loved most. If you didn’t know him personally, any support or share would still mean the world.
Thank you for reading, donating, and helping keep Shane’s memory alive.
