On Wednesday, February 25th, our family’s world was turned upside down. Shane and our oldest son Jax were involved in a devastating car accident on their way to school. As Shane pulled onto the highway, another truck struck them, totaling one of our family vehicles and leaving both Shane and Jax with injuries. Shane’s airbag didn’t deploy, causing him to suffer two fractures in his spine and neck, torn ligaments, and countless bruises and scratches. He is in a lot of pain and faces a long road to recovery, unable to return to work for the foreseeable future. Jax’s airbag did go off, but he still sustained a fractured nose and finger, seat belt burns, and severe bruising on his legs and face. Both Shane and Jax were knocked unconscious in the crash. Jax was seen by medical professionals in an ambulance at the scene, while Shane had to be pried and cut out of the truck before he could receive medical attention. Shane was transported by helicopter from Upson Regional to Atrium in Macon the day of the crash due to the severity of his injuries. The emotional and physical toll on our family has been immense. We are grateful that they are both alive, but the challenges ahead are daunting. The funds raised will help us cover mounting medical bills, replace the vehicle that was totaled so our family can get where we need to go, and support us as Shane recovers and is unable to work.
