My name is Shalanda Davis, and I’m a grieving mother trying to bring my son, Shamod Harris, home to North Carolina so he can be laid to rest near the family who loves him.
Shamod was only 23 years old—full of life, love, and laughter. He had just started finding his way in life, living in Tennessee with his girlfriend, hoping for happiness and peace. But tragically, while he was sleeping, Shamod was taken from us in a senseless act of violence—shot and killed by his girlfriend’s ex. He was innocent, caught off guard, and taken far too soon.
Shamod loved his family deeply—his mom, his big sister, and his little brother. He was goofy, loving, and wanted nothing more than to be home with me for Mother’s Day. I never imagined I would be preparing to bury my child. My heart is broken beyond words.
I’m asking for help to bring my baby boy back home to North Carolina, where his family can say goodbye and give him the proper farewell he deserves. I didn’t get to hold his hand during his final moments, but I want to hold him one last time and lay him to rest surrounded by love.
Please, anything you can give will help us bring Shamod home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
