On my birthday, November 22nd, my life changed in an instant. I was walking across the street when I was struck by a drunk driver. The impact left me with a broken right thigh bone that required surgery and rods, a torn ACL in my left leg, a concussion, and severe lacerations and blunt trauma to my head that needed stitches and 23 staples. I also suffered a cracked sternum and needed a blood transfusion. Since that day, I have been at Ochsner Hospital, and now I am being transferred to a rehabilitation center to learn how to walk again.
This has been an incredibly difficult time for me. I am usually very independent, working two jobs and attending nursing school full time. I had just moved into a new apartment, but now I am unable to work or continue my studies. The bills are piling up—rent, car note, and other essentials—and I am worried about keeping my home while I recover. Your support will help me cover these expenses and give me the stability I need to focus on healing and regaining my independence.
My hope is to recover, return to nursing school, and get back to the life I worked so hard to build. I want to thank anyone who is able to help, and also those who want to help but can’t right now. I am deeply grateful for anything given, because every bit is a blessing. Your kindness and support mean the world to me as I work toward recovery.
