Support Shahira’s Journey Through Medical School
Shahira, a dedicated young Jamaican woman, was accepted into the Doctor of Medicine programme at the Caribbean School of Medical Sciences Jamaica (CSMSJ) in September 2023. Committed to improving healthcare in Jamaica, she is determined to become a doctor to serve those in need.
Shahira is a compassionate and driven individual with a deep commitment to serving others. As a Youth Leader at her local church and a former student leader, she has always embraced leadership and community service. Her passion for medicine stems from personal experiences—witnessing her grandmother’s struggle with a rare illness and navigating the healthcare system alongside her family. These experiences have fueled her dedication to medical research and patient care, inspiring her to contribute meaningfully to Jamaica’s healthcare system.
Financial Challenges
Despite her dedication, Shahira is struggling to finance her medical education. She comes from a supportive but financially limited family— with both parents being retired. She initially began the programme with the hope of receiving scholarships, but that funding did not materialize. Now in her second year, the financial burden is increasing, with tuition fees piling up. Without the necessary funds, she faces the risk of being prevented from sitting her exams, jeopardizing her progress in the programme.
Hence, this is our urgent appeal for support.
Shahira urgently needs financial assistance to continue her studies and avoid disruptions in her education. Your generosity can help her stay on track to becoming a doctor and making a lasting impact on Jamaica’s healthcare system. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference.
Let’s invest in the future of medicine—help train one more doctor for Jamaica!
