Shadi was a remarkable scientist who dedicated the last 12 years of her life to developing new treatments for pediatric brain tumors. As a vital member of my lab, she generated essential data that supported new clinical trials and brought hope to countless families. Shadi was not only a brilliant researcher but also a loving mother and wife, always striving to make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. She was pursuing her PhD in clinical sciences, determined to expand her knowledge and contribute even more to the field she loved so deeply.

Tragically, Shadi passed away unexpectedly just before Christmas due to complications from multiple sclerosis. Despite the challenges of her illness, she never let it stop her from following her passion for science and helping others. Her loss has left a profound void in our community and, most importantly, in the lives of her husband Sam and their young son. Sam is now facing the immense challenge of raising their son alone, while also coping with the emotional and financial burdens that come with such a sudden loss.
