Support Sgt Rivera's Recovery and Family

On August 10th 2024, Sergeant Mariela Rivera was performing her duties as a Correctional Police Sergeant when she was injured responding to an incident inside of Essex County Correctional Facility. Due to the severity of her injuries, Sgt Rivera hasn’t been able to work.

Due to administrative error, Sgt Rivera has lost her health insurance, and hasn’t received Worker’s Compensation which has significantly impacted her and her family mentally, emotionally and most importantly financially.

Sgt Rivera has a 9 year old autistic daughter who receives services which have been impacted due to the loss of insurance. As if dealing with the pressure to nurse herself back to health wasn’t enough, sgt Rivera is now in jeopardy of being evicted due to the loss of income. Through this all, Sgt Rivera still remains dedicated to the law enforcement profession and hopes to return to work fully healthy one day.

We humbly request any financial assistance you can provide at this time. Through this ordeal, Sgt Rivera has had to care for her 2 daughters and her grandson while still not being healed and hardly able to walk.
