Support Sgt. Paul Starvaski’s Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Sgt. Paul Starvaski has dedicated his life to serving others, both as a respected Officer with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections and as a vibrant member of his local music scene. In 2022, Paul received a meritorious recognition award for saving an inmate’s life, a testament to his courage and commitment to those around him. Outside of work, Paul is known for his infectious energy and love of music, performing as a vocalist with bands like Pet Rock, Boombox, Cathy's Clown, Crazy Paulie, and the Straightjackets. He’s also an animal lover, especially devoted to his dogs, and enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Recently, Paul was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer, with two genetic mutations which has spread to other areas of his body and make this an aggressive form of cancer. This diagnosis has forced him to step away from his role at the prison, where he was responsible for the safety and well-being of both Officers and inmates. The sudden change has brought significant challenges, not only in terms of his health but also in meeting daily living expenses and the high costs of ongoing medical treatment. Paul’s family and friends are now facing the heartbreaking reality that his time with them may be far too short.
We are coming together to support Paul during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation will help ease the financial burden of his medical care and daily needs, allowing him to focus on his health and spend precious moments with loved ones. In addition to this online fundraiser, we will be hosting an in-person fundraiser with a basket lottery on September 21, 2025, at Halligan's in Auburn, MA. Doors will open at 12:00 pm, and a donation at the door is requested, with all proceeds going directly to Paul. We invite everyone to join us, participate, or help spread the word to support Paul and his family. Your support will honor Paul’s legacy of service, kindness, and joy, and help ensure he and his family are not alone in this fight.
