On October 15th, while battling a fire in San Francisco's Marina District, Chris Vickery suffered a devastating fall from the 3rd to the 2nd floor of a burning building. Chris broke his L2 vertebrae into multiple pieces, resulting in a serious spinal injury that required surgery at SF General.
Chris faces a long road to recovery. He’ll need at least a year to heal and won’t be able to do any physical work during that time — including firefighting or plumbing, which he often did on the side to help support his family.
As anyone who knows him can tell you, Chris can’t sit still — he’s always been the kind of guy to jump in, lend a hand, and do whatever needs to be done for his family and friends. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
Chris and his wife Stephanie are proud parents to three amazing kids: Dylan, Melia, and Kaia. With Chris unable to drive or work, Steph will be stepping up even more — becoming the full-time driver, caregiver, and emotional support system — which will also limit her ability to work.
This GoFundMe is to ease the financial burden this injury is placing on the Vickery family during the next year of recovery and healing. Donations will go toward covering living expenses, medical costs, and daily needs while Chris is unable to work.
Steph and Chris are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support they’ve already received. Please consider donating if you can, and feel free to share this with others who know and care about Chris and the Vickery family.
Thank you for supporting one of San Francisco’s finest on his path to recovery.
