Hi! I’m Sev. I’m a 19-year-old autistic student trying to go to college, and I am struggling to pay tuition due to my father’s unfortunate passing as well as trying to escape my abusive mother. I am in a one income household with my mother who not only withholds my inheritance from me, but does not support me financially at all and for the past few years has mentally and on occasion physically abused me.
However, I have been accepted into Atlantic School of Acting, a renowned acting studio with an acceptance rate of around 1.83%. This is an incredible accomplishment for me and a massive breakthrough. The past few years, I have worked incredibly hard, putting myself through courses at two different colleges, but getting the money to support myself has been the hardest due to my abusive home environment and discrimination while applying for jobs. I have been rejected from every job I have applied to due to being autistic.
Atlantic School of Acting is a studio where I would thrive and be offered opportunities that I would not get in The Bahamas where I currently live. My favorite musical ever that jumpstarted my love for theatre, Spring Awakening, started at the Atlantic School of Acting. This is my dream conservatory and the place that I have imagined myself being in since I was a child. It is the place where all my idols started their journeys, like Jonathan Groff.
I am a trained singer and I have been acting for as long as I can remember and musical theatre is my absolute passion. It is what I was born to do. But while I am stuck in my abusive household without my father's support and discriminated against for my autism, I am unable to support myself for my passions financially or mentally. The chance to attend Atlantic School of Acting would not only offer me more opportunity than I've seen in my entire lifetime to grow as an actress, but also help me escape the abusive environment I currently live in.
Atlantic has offered me a $10,000 scholarship for the skills I displayed at my audition but it still isn't enough to cover my tuition with the limited financial resources I have. That is why I am reaching out for your help. Please, even if you can only donate a few dollars, I would appreciate any help you could offer me to get me to safety and to the school of my dreams.
