Its hard to believe that less than two weeks ago they wanted to put my best friend down. But I wouldn’t allow it. Severus is in a lot of pain, but his leg is recovering well. Long surgery but the doctor did an amazing job. He’s supposed to be on bed rest for the next 8 weeks. He is trying so hard to be his normal self again. But we all know he has to chill so he can heal right. His front leg that was ripped open so badly is the problem at the moment. Causing irritation and not healing as well or quickly as hoped. The weekly bills to keep his legs freshly wrapped are draining us fast. The attorneys we speak to want more money than we have to fight her for vet bills. I don’t understand how someone can get away with this. $14,000 in vet bills thus far to save him and she hasn’t even tried apologizing. Makes me sick to my stomach. Severus and the whole MacChesney family thank everyone for the support. You are all appreciated so much.

Severus is recovering amazingly. I have to give him his sedatives to calm him down. He is trying so hard to get back to his normal self. So full of energy. But I want him to heal correctly. He is glued to my hip and does not want me to leave him ever. It’s really hard when I work so much. 10 weeks for another 10 years of happiness and joy. I don’t know what I would do without this silly mutt. Thank you all for everything. Words can’t describe how awesome you all are for your support.

Severus had surgery last night. It was supposed to take 2 hours. It took 5. Doctors said it looked like an m80 went off inside his leg. But, the amazing surgeon he is, spent his time in my boy. He repaired the leg and is extremely optimistic that it will heal perfectly in 6-10 weeks. He is splinted and casted and his other wounds were addressed again as well. Fort Collins Emergency Vet clinic in Fort Collins was amazing. I can’t talk highly enough on them. And the Laramie County Sheriffs Department. I truly believe the responding K-9 unit that used its own partners med kit on my dog saved his life. It was a long drive to Fort Collins, which I made very quickly but the bleeding had it not been slowed would have been too much on top of all the other issues. My buddy is coming home today! Thank you everyone for the continued prayers and support. It means everything to us.

severus has his surgery this afternoon. We are getting ready to take him down to the hospital for all of his pre-op work. I know he is in the best hands. I know he is going to be taken care of. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous as can be. This is my best friend. We thank everyone for the continued support and prayers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all.
Big surgery tomorrow. Please pray for my boy. But for today, he’s home loving the girls and all the treats he can handle.
New update:
Severus is recovering incredibly right now. This morning we were uncertain about his recovery, but as of tonight, he is walking! He gets to come home with us tomorrow. Then Thursday he comes back down to get some much needed care on his broken leg. He will be “Iron Dog”. Metal leg super dog! He has a long road of recovery ahead of him. But we are certain he is going to be his old self again soon! I can’t thank the incredible staff at Fort Collins Emergency Vet enough for their hard work saving my best friend. They have been communicative, supportive, caring and have been there the entire way. I can’t recommend them enough. Thank you everyone for your love and support!
Update:
Surgeon does not like the amount of bruising on his lungs right now. Though he is breathing better than before, they will not do surgery today. They are trying to make him as comfortable as possible until Thursday. They want to try and get me to bring him home tonight or tomorrow morning to be home with us until then to help eliminate some costs. Surgery I was quoted last night 3500-5000. Today they are telling me it’ll be 8000. The vet is amazing, but I hate that they want their money now. I’ve gotten care credit and another loan deal. I’m maxing out some cards. But I’m really at my end here. I appreciate everything everyone has done for me and my best friend.
My dog Severus, my best friend was hit by a car today but a not so pleasant person whom got arrested for a dui. We had to rush him to Fort Collins emergency vet. It was an extremely long night for us while they worked on him. It’s not over. Second surgery tomorrow. And a long road of recovery. It’s not cheap. He’s worth it and has high hopes. So we are not giving up on him. I never ask for help, but I am. Every dollar counts right now. From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone for all the support we got tonight.
