Hello, my name is Amy. I've started a GoFundMe campaign because my husband Seth is going in for neck surgery in August. We've been a single-income household for most of this year due to his degenerative disc disease. He worked up until the end of the last snow season when his back said, "no more." I am still employed, thank God. However, I will need to be home for an uncertain amount of days to assist Seth and make sure he heals. I have only about 4 days of PTO left after this spring. Seth had a lot of doctor appointments to get the surgery process started, and our daughter Emilie was sick for a few weeks after pneumonia returned. So, my paid time off was used a lot this year already. I was hoping to keep some in case Emilie got sick anymore this year. The same week of the surgery, Emilie has her 12th birthday. And the following week, she starts 6th grade. It's a big month for her, and I'm hoping to not let her feel the tightness of finances, not around such important milestones especially. I have applied to places for a second job this summer, trying to prepare, with no luck. Really, what I'm hoping for is just to give a buffer for rent for this coming month. Ideally, allowing us to focus on Seth healing and Emilie having a great birthday and start to the new school year.
