Hello, my name is Jackie and I am trying to raise money to help cover my service dog’s mounting vet bills. I was paired with my service dog, Bradie, in 2021 through Circle Tail. It is difficult to express just how much Bradie has done for me. To put it in the simplest terms, she has changed my life. I was very independent most of my life. However, as I became ill over the last several years, I lost more and more of my independence and my life, as I knew it, stopped. For safety reasons, I was no longer allowed to go on walks by myself and, as I live alone, my friends and family were in constant fear that I would not be able to reach help, via phone or otherwise, if I fell. In came Circle Tail and Bradie.
Bradie performs so many tasks for me on a daily basis. For example, due to one of my conditions, I become unstable with positional changes. So, to prevent bending, Bradie picks up every item I drop. She also helps with laundry, turning lights on/off, getting water when I’m dizzy, and finding and retrieving any item I need (medicine bag, phone, etc.). The list goes on and on. That special girl has even taught herself to alert me to reactions before they happen. Her assistance has helped lessen my symptoms and provided me with endless happiness and confidence. I can say with full sincerity that she has given me my life back.
She has always been a very observant and playful dog. She is constantly watching and listening to be ready to assist me. All the while, wagging her tail with a slight prance as she happily does her job. You can imagine, then, how shocking it was to see her suddenly start hopping on three paws last month with no warning. Her toe swelled rapidly but had no clear injury. That is how it all started. She has had five emergency vet visits since and is/has been on several different antibiotics. She has had multiple x-rays of her paws and lungs (to check for a fungal infection (blastomycosis)), cultures made, and cytology done. Cytology showing extensive infection of several bacteria (though none grew in the culture) has been performed multiple times. The infection is not improving with any treatment. Finally, this week Bradie began limping on her other front paw. She was taken to the vet for her fifth visit. The infection is now also in the dewclaw of the other front paw. We have no answers and further, more in-depth tests, are very costly (on top of what has already been spent).
Any money donated will go towards vet bills, prescriptions, and medical-related bills for Bradie’s recovery. For example, Bradie’s toe is now an open wound and must be covered, but her boots do not work with the swelling (so another pair must be bought). Any donation would be greatly appreciated, but if you aren't able to contribute at this time, a share is also very helpful!
