Hi, I'm Seri! I currently live in Iowa with my two partners, Mona and James, and our animal companion, Bill the Cat!!

I met my partners last summer shortly after I moved to the Midwest, and we've been stuck like glue ever since. In fact, our 1-year anniversary is coming up soon!

Unfortunately, I lost my job with a local small business a few months back, due to the owner not being okay with transgender people working for him, and James has been covering all the rent and bills since then. This month, our property management threw extra charges on our rent, and we weren't able to pay it on time, so they have posted an eviction notice on our front door as of this morning (9/6/25). Because we rent the lot, and not the building, they have given us three days to either pay the rent in full ($880 with late fees and extra charges) or to vacate the premises (somehow taking the trailer with us) within that same period.

Due to the nature of our ongoing relationship with the property manager and her husband, who run the community we have been living in, we don't feel that it's a safe bet for 3 trans people to stay here and continue struggling uphill. We're looking to relocate ourselves in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it's relatively more safe for LGBTQIA+ people, with better social support systems, and closer to our friends.

Mona can't work a "normal" job due to the nature of her medical disability. James and I are privileged enough to be able to work and support ourselves. I'm primarily concerned with making sure that Mona can be safely and swiftly housed in a place that's friendly towards trans women, and finding work for myself and James. I can sleep nearly anywhere and I'm no stranger to truck stop showers and baby wipe baths.

I'm asking for help in any form - not simply monetary. We're looking for resources for queer folks to help us with finding food, work, and affordable housing so we can support ourselves. Even spreading the word is a blessing.

If you find yourself to be so inclined, please consider helping us in whatever ways you feel are appropriate. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. May you be well.
