On Friday, September 12, 2025, my dad was admitted to the emergency room in North Platte due to a stroke. Once there, they figured out he had two blood clots blocking one of his main cerebral arteries. They gave him a blood-thinning medicine to try to dissolve the blood clots, and while waiting for the medicine to work, they decided it would be best to life flight him to the Swedish Medical Center in Denver to have the blood clots removed surgically.

By the time he arrived in Denver, the blood clots had already ruptured and damaged the right side of his brain. Because of this, they couldn’t do anything for him other than wait to see how much his brain would swell. They took him to the neurologist ICU and started him on aggressive medical therapy to try to reduce the swelling in his brain. An MRI was done to check on the progress of the swelling, and it showed his brain had swollen significantly. Seeing as his brain was only getting worse, they decided to move him to surgery to remove part of his skull to make room for the swelling.

He can hear and move his right arm and leg to make gestures but is unable to move the left side of his body. As of right now, he is set to possibly stay here in Denver for 2 months or more. My mom will be staying with him to care for him and be at his side. When he was conscious and able to talk, he told us that he didn’t care how he ended up; he just wanted to live and be with his family.

My family would really appreciate the help and support. My dad is an honest, hardworking man and has always tried to help others out without expecting anything in return.
