If you’ve ever eaten at Amigos Pizzeria & Mexican Restaurant in Danville, you’ve met Sergio, one of the owners, and you know what a genuinely good person he is. Sergio treats everyone like a friend, is actively involved in our downtown business community, supports our school students, gives generously to nonprofits and local organizations, and has cooked for those in need, including our volunteer firefighters and at the Gatehouse homeless shelter. I can’t count how many times I have seen him help those most in need, while putting his own needs aside. Now, he needs our help.
Sergio was picked up by ICE on 12/27 on his way into work, and is being held at a detention facility. His hearing is scheduled for January 13. This GoFundMe is to help with legal costs and to support his family while he is unable to work. Our elected officials, including Senator Lynda Culver, Dave McCormick, and Congressman Dan Meuser, are doing what they can—but they need our voices too. Sergio has been working for years to resolve his immigration status, he came here for work over 20 years ago, pays his taxes, employs others, attends church, and quietly gives back whenever he can.
If you’re willing, please consider writing a letter of support on Sergio’s behalf. He has always put others first, and now it’s our turn to stand with him. Thank you for supporting a man who has given so much to our community.
