UPDATE 9/17: 

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.  

When Sergio was first detained by immigration enforcement, our community was at a loss for words; facing an incredibly difficult and uncertain road. Today, because you chose to stand beside Sergio and his family, we are sharing an update filled with immense gratitude and hope. As mentioned in earlier updates, Sergio has been released following the implementation of habeas corpus. Furthermore, Sergio recently had his follow-up meeting with immigration, which went incredibly well. He will continue to check in with them as scheduled while actively filing the proper documentation to secure his legal status to stay. 

On behalf of Sergio, his family, and everyone who loves him, I want to thank each and every person who donated, shared the fundraiser, sent prayers, and reached out with words of encouragement. Together, we raised $27,000, an UNBELIEVABLE turnout that completely surpassed anything we could have imagined. These funds have been vital in covering legal fees on top of supporting his family’s living expenses during this time and moving forward. This milestone is a true testament to how deeply special Sergio is to our community. 

It personally warms my heart to see that when a community truly comes together, real change is possible. We could not have reached this moment without you. Thank you for being strong when he needed it most, and for keeping hope alive.

Support for Sergio

Sergio’s friends and community are raising funds for Sergio, who was recently detained by immigration enforcement. This sudden and painful situation has turned life upside down for someone who is deeply loved by friends, family, and the community. Since being taken away, Sergio’s absence has been felt in a way that is hard to put into words. Without Sergio here, it feels like there is a hole in his place that cannot be filled. Right now, the people who care about Sergio most are doing everything they can to stand by him and make sure he is not facing this alone.

The funds raised will help cover the urgent legal fees needed for representation as well as living expenses for Sergio’s family while they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
