My name is Jon and I am raising funds for my son.

As many of you know, my son, Sergeant First Class Hamby, proudly serves in the United States Army as a Drill Sergeant. For the past 13 years, he has served our country with honor, including multiple overseas deployments.

He was recently transferred from Virginia to Colorado. While he and his family were temporarily staying in a hotel waiting for their home to be ready, their moving trailer was broken into.

Everything was taken.

The thieves stole all of Josh’s Army uniforms — including his dress uniform — along with the patches, pins, and coins he earned throughout his military career. Each of those items represented years of sacrifice, leadership, and service.

They also took his girlfriend’s uniforms, all of their personal clothing, and all of the children’s clothes. His children are only 6 and 2 years old.

Beyond the uniforms and clothing, they stole their pillows and blankets, and most devastating of all, a cross necklace that held his mother’s ashes and her photo. That loss is something that can never truly be replaced.

Many people don’t realize that service members are responsible for purchasing and replacing much of their own uniforms and gear. Rebuilding what was lost will be both costly and overwhelming.

Josh would never ask for help. He has always been the one serving others, leading soldiers, and putting others first. But right now, his family could truly use some support as they rebuild from this unexpected loss.
