Help Sequoia Heal and Rebuild Her Life!

Sequoia Ahimsa, a devoted mother of two, passionate environmental advocate, and cornerstone of her community, is facing a life-changing health crisis. Since November 3rd, Sequoia has been battling a severe and debilitating condition that has led to 11 emergency hospital visits and stays. Doctors are still working to understand what’s causing her symptoms; they suspect it may be some form of dysautonomia.

In less than a week, Sequoia went from leading restoration planting crews to experiencing tachycardia, vertigo, and even momentary loss of consciousness. Her condition has recently worsened to the point where she is unable to walk due to malfunctions in her nervous system and is now dependent on a wheelchair. As a result, Sequoia is unable to care for her children, work, drive, or live independently. She requires round-the-clock assistance and company. Despite these daily challenges, she continues to collaborate with specialists, including cardiologists, neurologists, and other practitioners, to find answers and a path toward recovery.

Sequoia has always been a beacon of strength, not just for her family but for her community. As someone who works in natural resource management, she has dedicated her life to restoring ecosystems, mitigating wildfires, and creating sustainable solutions for the environment. Through her work, she has empowered hundreds of young people, teaching them about forest and riparian ecosystems, helping them find jobs that allow them to contribute to saving the planet while also providing them with a sense of purpose and opportunity.

Now, Sequoia needs our support more than ever. She’s facing mounting medical bills, transportation costs for doctor visits, and the daily struggles of providing for her children while unable to work. While she is working towards securing Family Medical Leave, the system is slow and arduous. In the interim, available funds are running low. Sequoia’s ability to recover and care for her family is directly impacted by the support she receives during this time.
