Sequoia High School’s Folklorico Club is fundraising for our winter performance!
My name is Melissa Díaz, and I am an Ethnic Studies and History teacher at Sequoia High School in Redwood City. I also run an after school Folklorico Club where our students can learn our traditional dances and perform them at school events. They are currently rehearsing to perform a Sinaloa suite at the all school rally on January 30th, 2026. We have 25 students who are committed and excited to dance, but we are in need of funds to buy more shoes and vestuarios for our new members.
Our goal as a club is to make sure every student who wants to dance has access to the program. There is no requirement of any previous dance experience and no fee. However, folklorico shoes, skirts, vestuarios are very expensive, and we are in need of more support for our growing club. Shoes cost about $80 per student, Shirts are $25 and folklorico skirts are about $90-$150.
Please consider donating to support local Redwood City youth!
