Support Sentoryu Henry's Fight for Life

My son Henry, known to most by his sumo name Sentoryu Henry, lives in Japan. He just celebrated his 56th birthday this month and is one of the kindest, most generous people you could ever know. He went to Japan in 1988 and became a professional sumo wrestler.

Now Henry (Sentoryu) is facing the biggest fight of his life. He has a severe chronic lung disease called sarcoidosis which has left his lungs unable to function on their own. After trying every possible treatment, his doctors have said that a lung transplant is his only chance to survive and live a full life. Pursuing a lung transplant in the United States is not an option since traveling from Japan is impossible in his current condition.

There are some health requirements that Henry (Sentoryu) must still meet before he can be added to the donor list, and once added, the waiting period for a lung transplant is very long, possibly up to 2 years. He was admitted on May 5 and was in the ICU until May 15. Until receiving a transplant, he must remain in the hospital connected to a specialized oxygen machine which allows him to breathe comfortably.

Unfortunately, Henry's (Sentoryu's) condition does not allow him to work any longer. This has caused hardship for him and his wife. Although they have insurance which covers some of the expenses, the cost of hospital care, including ongoing treatments, tests, medications, and travel expenses (gas, tolls, etc.) his wife spends to visit him (driving 1 hour 40 minutes each way), on top of living expenses that his wife is now having to take on alone, is much more than they can afford.

ヘンリー（戦闘竜）は、ドナーリスト登録の為に多くの健康上の要件を満たす必要があり検査をしてきました。また登録後も肺移植の待機期間は非常に長く、平均で2年かかる可能性があります。彼は今年5月5日に緊急入院し、5月15日まで集中治療室（ICU）にて治療を行いました。移植を受けるまで、快適な呼吸ができるよう、専用の酸素吸入器を装着した状態で入院する必要があります。



残念ながら、ヘンリー（戦闘竜）は病状のため、もう働くことができません。これは彼と妻にとって大きな負担となっています。費用の一部は保険でカバーされていますが、継続的な治療、検査、薬、妻が見舞いに通う交通費（片道1時間40分の運転）（ガソリン代、高速道路料金など）を含む入院費用に加え、妻が仕事をしても、一人で負担しなければならない生活費は、到底賄える金額ではありません。
