Help create a sensory friendly haircut experience for neurodivergent kids because every child deserves to feel confident, comfortable, and cared for without the struggle.
Hi, I’m Shirell, a licensed hairstylist with over 10 years in the industry and the founder of Hope Haircuts, a sensory-focused salon for children, teens, and adults with autism and special needs. About three years ago, I began working closely with children on the spectrum, and it completely changed the direction of my career and my heart.
I became a sensory safe certified stylist and started creating an experience that looks very different from a traditional haircut. One where children are given time, where they are not rushed, and where they are free to be themselves. A space where families can walk in feeling understood instead of overwhelmed, and leave feeling a sense of relief, joy, and peace.
Today, I serve around 85 children a month, and it is the most fulfilling work I have ever done. I have watched children go from fearful and unsure to proud of themselves, smiling in the mirror, and building confidence with each visit. I have seen the joy, excitement, and moments of pride that families carry with them after their child’s experience. Those moments are everything.
Now I’m ready to grow this impact, and I need your help.
This fundraiser will support free and or reduced sensory-friendly haircuts throughout 2026 so more families in our community can experience care that truly meets them where they are. Every donation helps create access to a safe, joyful, and confidence-building experience for children who need it most.
Your donation will directly support:
- Free and or reduced sensory-friendly haircuts for families who need it most
- Expanding our salon space to create a larger, calming, and supportive environment
- Sensory tools like weighted capes, fidgets, visual supports, toys, and booster seats
- Hiring and training additional sensory-focused stylists to serve more families
- Take-home items that help children feel confident beyond their appointment
- Community outreach including awareness, celebrations, and events for neurodivergent children and families
Every child deserves to be seen.
Every child deserves to feel supported.
Every child deserves to feel celebrated, no matter their background or needs.
We’ve set a starting goal of $75,000, which will fund a portion of free and reduced sensory haircuts, tools, and salon improvements for 2026. Our stretch goal of $165,000 will allow us to fully expand the space, hire and train additional sensory-focused staff, and serve even more children with confidence, joy, and care.
Thank you for helping me continue to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful space for children and families in our community
