Support Sensei Lucas in His Fight for Recovery
Donation protected
Sensei Lucas joined our Machida Karate team in Los Angeles, CA in February 2023. He dedicated himself to teaching and sharing his love for karate with our students. His passion and commitment were evident every day, bringing great energy to our dojo.
Sensei Lucas is not only a dedicated instructor but also an accomplished martial artist. In 2019, he became a World Champion in Kumite Team, proudly representing Brazil on the international stage. His skills, perseverance, and warrior spirit have inspired many, both on and off the mats.
Sensei Lucas came to the U.S. seeking new opportunities, but unfortunately, his health challenges returned. During his time with us, two autoimmune illnesses he had been battling since the age of 14 resurfaced. His condition worsened, leading to hospitalization, the removal of his gallbladder, and a life-threatening case of sepsis. His weight dropped to just 119 pounds, forcing him to return to Brazil for urgent medical treatment after only six months with us.
In July 2024, after a long and grueling battle, Sensei Lucas underwent a liver transplant that brought some much-needed improvement. However, his fight is far from over. He is now facing another major health challenge: ulcerative colitis, a severe condition requiring critical surgery to remove his rectum and reconstruct his digestive system.
Despite the progress he’s made, Sensei Lucas still needs our help. He is facing overwhelming medical bills, ongoing treatment costs, and the financial burden of this next life-changing surgery.
We’re asking the karate community, the martial arts world, and our Machida Karate family to come together and support Sensei Lucas during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward his medical expenses and recovery.
Sensei Lucas gave his all to our dojo and students, and now we have the chance to support him in return. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference in his recovery.
Thank you for your kindness and support. OSS!
