Hello, my name is Amy and I am organizing this fundraiser for my dearest father, Seng, who underwent cervical posterior surgery to remove a grade 2 Ependymoma tumor. I am hoping to raise funds to help cover his medical and rehabilitation costs as well as essential living costs and the rent of our small family restaurant business which has been closed indefinitely until he recovers.
About two years ago, Seng developed muscle weakness and numbness in his upper limbs as well as consistent neck and back pain. Despite his endless pain and struggle to keep up with the workload, Seng tirelessly continued to work six days out of the week at the restaurant to the best of his capabilities alongside his wife and two eldest daughters to stay afloat in these trying times.
Throughout the two years of going in and out of the emergency room whenever the pain felt too much to bear, doctors were unable to get a diagnosis until recently on the 6th of October when Seng decided to travel three and a half hours from home to Stanford Hospital, desperate to seek a second opinion. At long last, Seng was diagnosed with a spinal Ependymoma tumor–as well as a pituitary tumor–and was promptly admitted for surgery the next week when his condition worsened significantly. Thankfully, the spinal tumor has been removed to a near total recession.
Facing new challenges of having difficulty walking accompanied by loss of feeling in both arms after surgery, Seng is now in the process of rehabilitation under 24-hour care. Not only that, with the rehabilitation center still hours away from home comes the cost of travel expenses and leaving my two younger siblings in my care. My mother, with utter love and dedication, continues to stay by my father’s side, choosing to either sleep in the car or the bedside chair instead for the reason that the cost of lodging is too expensive, only coming home on the weekends to make sure their three children are all well and that bills are being paid. Unfortunately, with the restaurant business being abruptly and indefinitely closed, there is no longer a main source of income for our family of five and we are now struggling to make ends meet.
Every donation and prayer is greatly appreciated and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting my father in his recovery journey!
