This is the hardest thing we’ve ever had to write and ask for. Our family is experiencing a life-changing tragedy that has deeply affected us and will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Our adorable 3-year-old son, Sebastian, was involved in a tragic fire accident—something no parent or family could ever prepare for. The accident happened unexpectedly, and everyone who was there, including adults and children, has been deeply shaken by what they witnessed. This heartbreaking event has touched every heart in our family and our community.

Sebastian suffered second- and third-degree burns on his face, arms, and neck, and because his airway became severely swollen, he now has a tracheostomy to help him breathe. He has been in the ICU for over three weeks, receiving around-the-clock critical care from incredible doctors and nurses who are doing everything possible to help him heal. He has also undergone skin grafting surgery for his third-degree burns and remains on strong medications to manage pain and swelling.

During his most recent procedure, doctors discovered Grade 3 subglottic stenosis, meaning his airway is severely narrowed. They did everything they could to stabilize him, but it’s still unclear if what was done will be enough. Reconstructive surgery may be needed in the future, depending on how he heals.

Seeing our little boy—once so full of energy, laughter, and light—going through this unimaginable pain has been beyond heartbreaking. Sebastian’s smile and joy always filled our home, and not hearing his little voice has left an emptiness words can’t describe. Yet, through all of this, he continues to show incredible strength, and his courage gives us hope every single day.
