Hello! My name is Sebastian Medina, writer and director for my first horror film Skotos. I am currently studying at the Santa Fe Community College for Film . My passion for film came from my love of horror and the super hero genre (more specifically Scream and Marvel). My dream is to be able to completely transition into the film industry, more specially in either horror or make super hero content and either create or assist others in that genre.
About Skotos!
Set in modern day, Skotos is about 21-year old Cecille Lucas going to a college party with her best friend 22-year old Jake Valentine to break out of her shell and to get over her anxiety around people, however as she interacts with the people around her the room gets covered in Darkness, completely leaving where they once stood nothing but a pitch of darkness. As the night progresses she starts losing her mind as everyone around her starts disappearing and needs to survive the night.
Skotos is my capstone project 2026, and has been a passion project of mine for about 2 years, wanting to bring something different to the big screen. While researching ideas for Skotos the idea of the natural fear of the dark came to me as most people at one point did have a fear the dark and wanted to explore it, as I did my research I found a condition called Nyctophobia, which is an extreme fear of the dark . Symptoms of Nyctophobia includes extreme anxiety and panic attacks which left me inspired to really tackle that head on and showcase that fear on the big screen.
About our Crew!
Skotos is being filmed solely in New Mexico, relying on and supporting local filmmakers with a passion for horror and film. The majority of the crew will consist of students from the Santa Fe Community College as well as the University of New Mexico.
What will the money be used for?
Every dollar will be used to help us cover financial production costs including:
- Set Design
- Props
- Feeding our hard at work crew and cast
- Post Production - such as editing, sound, correction, ect.
What do I gain out of this?
I hope to be able to make my mark in the film industry and be able to branch out into horror with the help of my talented and amazing crew, any amount given will be insanely appreciated.
