My name is Sean. On May 1, 2025, I was working from home and needed to get some water to drink. I was still on the clock and on my way back to my desk, I fell. My husband, Ramon, took me to the hospital, where I discovered that I had broken my left ankle. I was admitted to the hospital. After several days, I developed a pulmonary embolism and was transferred immediately to ICU, where I stayed until the end of May. I was then transferred to a skilled nursing facility and then back home. I started physical therapy at the end of August and then went back to the skilled care facility for more intensive physical therapy. After 20 days, I was transferred back home, where I am continuing physical therapy. My only caretaker is my husband, Ramon, and he was unable to work during that period because I had to have someone with me at all times. His unemployment benefits ran out, and so we are living strictly on my disability payments and Social Security. Most of my bills have been paid with credit cards, and as such, we have maxed them out.
