Help Sean Achieve His Dream of Serving in the U.S. Navy

Hello, my name is Sean Mauer. I’m a 28 year old father from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, now living in Rockaway Beach, Oregon, with my fiancé and our two young daughters. We’re a single-income family, with my fiancé staying home to care for our little ones.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of serving in the United States Navy. It’s not just about protecting and serving our country it’s about embracing the discipline, honor, and values that come with it. Most importantly, it’s about building a better future for my daughters, providing them with stability, opportunity, and a father they can look up to.

I’m already working closely with a recruiter to make this dream a reality. I’ve even had one of my tattoos removed through laser treatment to meet enlistment requirements a process that was both painful and costly, but absolutely worth it. On top of that, I’ve been studying non stop for the ASVAB to ensure I’m fully prepared for this important step in my journey. Now, I face one final hurdle: the repair of my gauged earlobes.

To meet enlistment standards, I need surgery to repair my earlobes, which will cost approximately $2,500. In addition, there will be travel expenses for the three hour drive to and from the surgeon’s location. Altogether, these costs total an estimated $3,500 an amount my family simply can’t afford on our single income.

I’ve poured everything I have into preparing for this opportunity, and I’m determined to succeed. I feel a little vulnerable sharing this because I’m not the kind of person who asks for help easily, but this is a once in a lifetime chance to achieve a dream that will change my family’s life.
