09/16/24***UPDATE***
So Sean is plugging away at recovering. Still in the rehab center going to dialysis, PT/OT and anything else they put on his plate. Doing what they ask of him. The wound care doc goes every week to help with a sore. His leg is healing nicely. My brother is not one to ever complain. Even as a child no one knew he was ever sick until he spiked a fever of like 103* (at the point on a kid you can smell they are sick) because he never complained. Still the same to this today. He trucks along. So, now would be a great to double down an donate or donate again to give him a little boost for his bills that are now coming due. Obviously, more the we've raised so far. Please donate, share to bothe if you can before this all goes away.
- God bless you all,
Thanks.
09/03/24 ***UPDATE***
So I know its been a week or so but we are still trying to raise funds for Sean. Chris is going back and forth between her parents and Sean. I am sure having to worry a little less about finances for Sean would help her immensely. Sean it still doing dialysis, PT & OT the best that he can to get himself back home. If you know Sean or Chris they never ask for help even when they could use it. Anything helps and is very much appreciated. God Bless you all ❤❤
08/22/24 UPDATE***
so Sean has been in rehab for a week now. Has has dialysis, PT & OT. He is working hard. It’s a physical and mental struggle but he is trying so hard to get through it all with his love by his side the whole time. These are very hard times for him. As the phrase goes, “the struggle is real”. His recovery would be even better not having the worry of bills on their mind. Thank you to everyone who has donated or shared this GoFundMe but this is a very long road. Please please share this with everyone you know. It will make a difference I’m sure. God bless all of you and thank you for all your help so far. It’s not over yet, so let’s get this amazing man more help❤️❤️❤️
***UPTATE*** Sean was moved earlier this week to the rehab facility. He is settling in and has some work ahead of him. Chris is there with him for every step. These two just need a break. My brother has been through so much in the last 10 years or so. Couldn’t make this story up. Now the bills are rolling in. If you know Sean or Chris please consider donating; sharing or even both if you can.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
***UPDATE*** so Sean had his leg amputated to below the knee yesterday. I’ve been told they are moving him into rehab immediately and those $100-$200 per day bills are getting closer and closer not to mention everything else incurred due to the hospital stay and surgery. Please, for Sean I am asking that if you can donate even the littlest bit or even share that would be amazing ****
OK. So here goes….My name is Fawn Carcifi, Sean is my brother who I love with all my heart. I feel like this guy can’t catch a break. I am setting this GoFundMe up for my brother, Sean. This is a man who has the biggest heart and would give anyone the shirt off his back if he could. He was hard working (as long as he could be) and did whatever he needed to do. Besides me and mom, he has his longtime love of his life Chris, 2 sons and a daughter. He has 4 grand children who mean the world to him. You can even add my 2 daughters who I know he loves to the moon. Here is his story…
Prior to everything below, Sean was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes along with high blood pressure.
In December 2016 he was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had to have his right kidney removed. Everything seemed to be progressing when in October 2018 Sean had his first heart attack. Needed a stent and during this process he lost function in his remaining kidney and had to start hemodialysis
In August 2021- he needed a transmetatarsal amputation of the left foot due to chronic non healing diabetic wounds.
December 2021 - 5 years cancer free and now can be eligible for the kidney transplant list which he was going to pursue after they (Sean and Chris) got back from vacation however, in February 2022 Sean needed a surgical repair of right foot fracture which was sustained while on vacation.
In July 2023 Sean had a 2nd heart attack and needed a stent placement. Then in October 2023 he acquired a severe infection due to gallbladder stones. In the hospital for 2 weeks in which he had his gallbladder removed given antibiotics and gall bladder drains
My brother was back in the hospital that same year, December 2023, with a lung abscess requiring chest tube and massive antibiotics. Also, a 2 week hospital stay.
In March 2024 Sean had one week Hospital stay for pneumonia.
Things seemed to be moving in the right direction and he he was told he could start the testing to get back on the active transplant list then just when he thought it was safe in July 2024 Sean developed sepsis due to abscess in right foot (his good foot). Requires several surgeries and the removal of the 2nd toe. A 2 week hospital stay. In August 2024 Sean went from the hospital to short term rehab for 12 days and became septic once again from an infection in a sacral wound. He required surgery on the wound to clean up a massive wound infection and remove dead tissue. During this stay it was also discovered that blood flow to the right foot was poor and the foot abscess was not healing . It was recommended by his team of doctors that a below the knee amputation of his right leg would give him the best chance for positive healing and get him on the active transplant list.
He cannot be on the active transplant list with any kind of unhealed wound or acute illness
This is the major stuff. He has also had numerous short procedure/ outpatient procedures for his feet, dialysis plus cardiac issues.
Medicare only pays 80%, we will have to pay the remaining 20%
Medicare pays for 100% of the first 20 days of a rehab stay ( he has already used 12 days). On day 21 a $100 to $200 per day copay will kick in.
Also know his secondary insurance to Medicare dropped him. They say due to payment issues however Sean took care of that situation and the insurance company did not post it correctly. Saying that was the reason however, we all know that insurance companies just want to get rid of customers that have major health issues so they don’t have to pay out.
We are trying to raise $50k to help with his medical bills he has and will receive due to his health problems.
As I said in the beginning, this man is loving (with all his heart) heard working as long as he could. puts others before himself. If I could I would give him the world and more as anyone who loves Sean would. Things can only stretch so far and he and his family needs the help.
Thanks for reading this,
Seans family
God Bless You.
