My name is Sean and at 39 years old. I'm an educator at a Hmong charter school and Next Gen Youth Pastor. As of late I'm facing one of the biggest challenges of my life. I've been diagnosed with heart failure, which has dramatically changed my life and left me in need of a heart transplant. It was also told to me that with conditions like mine that a liver transplant will also be needed.
My Journey
I was born with a heart defect but didn't know the extent of it, because my parents didn't really tell me anything other than I had heart surgery when I was little. However, I learned recently that I was born with a 2 chambered heart and that doctors had moved my heart from my left side to my right side and put a Fontan around my heart. I never knew all these things, until 2023 when I admitted myself to the hospital because I was getting bloated.
I had lived my life normally, until September 14, 2023. When I learned that my heart was failing. Or learned that my heart was not normal.
Current Situation
I had opted to live life taking medication for the time being and if it worked it worked, and should one day it doesn't then I would be content with life ending. Since 2023 life was a little regular again , when taking the medication, until recently June 2025 I started to bloat again and the medication stopped working. However, by then I had a new look on life and I wanted to try something even if was painful.
The Path Forward
With new hope and wanting to stay alive longer and heart/liver transplant being the one thing that can allow me to live longer. I had admitted myself to the hospital and am waiting for a heart/liver transplant.
Why I Need Help
While I am fortunate to have medical insurance that covers many of my direct medical expenses, the reality of a heart transplant journey extends far beyond just medical bills. The associated costs of relocating, having to pay for a traveling nurse to care for me when on recovery, unforeseen medical expenses and depending I might not be able to work when I'm recovering as I work in education.
How You Can Help
Any contribution, no matter how small, prayers and encouragement, will help me focus on what's most important - working toward the best possible health outcome.
Thank You
I'm deeply grateful for any support you can offer - whether it's a donation, sharing my story, or simply keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
This journey has shown me the incredible power of God's love and the people he's given me throughout life. I love you all dearly and I hope for great blessings for you all.
