Support Sean Konrad's Battle Against Metastatic Melanoma

My name is Danielle Konrad and I am Sean’s sister. Those of you who know Sean, know he’s always been the life of the party and friend to everyone. After growing up in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Sean pursued his love of the beach and headed down south. He has been living in Charleston, South Carolina for over 20 years. His outgoing personality has made nursing the perfect career for him. Sean is the father of three beautiful children- Kyla, Chance and Jenna.

Since October 16th, Sean has been on a medical roller coaster ride. Sean went to the emergency room that day after having some mild symptoms that progressed into leg numbness. After having multiple scans, he was told that he had 25 lesions in his brain and that he had cancer. After many more scans and a brain biopsy, Sean was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. The melanoma had metastasized to his brain and spine.

Within 2 weeks of that initial ER visit, the compression from the spinal tumor caused Sean to lose most lower body function and he has been in a wheelchair ever since.

Sean has had radiation on his spine and 2 rounds of Immunotherapy so far.

Throughout all of this, Sean has remained positive, cracking jokes, sending funny memes and reels, etc.

Sean’s besties in Charleston, Sarah and Liz, have been tirelessly caring for him throughout this ordeal, along with help from our sister, Jackie Buehner.

Sean hasn’t worked since that first ER visit, and all of his bills are starting to pile up. His medical needs as he battles this disease have increased as well. He will require private in-home care above and beyond the brief in-home nursing visits and what his friends and family have been providing.
