Supporting Sean Through Glioblastoma

Donation protected
Dear kind hearted friends, family and supporters,

On February 6, 2025, Sean, my lovely husband had a massive seizure at a Ford dealership and was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Sean was treated for a brain lesion and possible infection in the brain before being transferred to Emory Hospital to brave a surgery for removal and biopsy.

After many calls and a lot of waiting, we finally got the results from scans and biopsy, which confirmed our worst fears: Sean had a stage 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor.

Sean’s only 47.

Deflated, defeated, and terrified, we picked ourselves back up and started a fighting plan. We then went on the search to find the best cancer brain center and neuro-oncologists to treat him. Duke Cancer Center in North Carolina accepted him and we stayed in Durham, NC for 6 weeks of radiation and chemo.

If you know Sean, then you know the great love he has for his family. We first met and fell in love in Colorado. Life then took us back to Georgia to marry and settle down to start a family.

Sean worked as an architect, and I worked as a dental hygienist. We were busy raising our three sons. Volunteering in our local schools, civil air patrol leadership or coaching sports, our days were full of life and adventure.

After what feels like endless appointments, 33 rounds of radiation therapy, 42 days of chemo, so many complications and hospital ER visits. He rang the bell at Duke!

Writing this has been hard since I’m not good at sharing personal news. Some of you might be hearing this news for the first time. I’m sorry we haven’t told you sooner. We’ve been fighting and processing what’s been happening.

We recently received some very positive news from his doctors at Duke - Due to carrying certain genetic mutations he is eligible for a life saving treatment in Germany that has yielded extremely positive results in treating this type of tumor. This treatment is not covered by insurance and would involve traveling to and from Germany twelve times over the course of the next year. Needless to say, between treatment, travel & lodging, will incur extremely significant expenses.

Many of you have reached out over the past months asking what you can do to help - It is for this reason we are creating this fundraiser. All funds will go directly to us to help with Sean's medical care. We are so appreciative of your love and support, it means the world to us. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, generosity, and compassion.

With deep love and gratitude,
Melanie
