Hello,
I am Sean Stafford. I am originally from the Virginia Beach area and lived briefly in the Richmond VA area too, but I mostly grew up mostly in the Syracuse/Auburn/Rochester New York area. Now I live in the Washington DC area.
This year has been a very rough time for me! First I lost my uncle Wes to cancer back in February, and then my grandfather to cancer in April. Also, very sadly, I lost my cousin AJ to gun violence last month in June.
I was not very close to my uncle, but it still bothers me. I wish things went differently with him. Living in New York I didn’t really grow up knowing him and have a tight relationship with him. Also before his death he became anti social and severely mentally ill.
My grandfather and I were very close. He was like a father figure to me because I don’t know my father. He was the one I could call for advice and help or would just call anytime to talk. Now I can’t do that. I miss his conversation s about life and his stories about traveling the world for the USA Navy. He was retired USA Navy veteran and retired DOD.
AJ’s death was senseless and very upsetting to me and has me thinking about my grandfather and uncles death more now. I will miss seeing him and his smile.
I was already diagnosed with PTSD and depression prior to these deaths due to my upbringing and background. Now it feels like it got worse. I had to take time off from work to travel to grieve and for funerals as I live in the Washington, DC area. It’s very expensive here and the cost of living is higher than most areas. I have lost income since April.
