Sean Emmert's Brain Tumor Journey #SeanStrong

My nephew, Sean Emmert, spent the long Labor Day weekend in Miami with his brother, Connor, and cousin, Kevin, for the ND vs. U of Miami football game. Shortly after he returned home, he fell due to a seizure. While investigating this episode, a CT scan revealed a more ominous discovery. Sean had a brain tumor. Since then, Sean and his family's world has been turned upside down.

After a successful 9-hour resection surgery, he came home after seventeen days in the hospital. He had been through so much during those days of post-op, including being moved to ICU and put into a medically induced coma to help his brain recover and mitigate seizures from the extensive procedure to remove his tumor. Approximately 70% of his tumor was removed due to its location with caution to prevent post-operative speech and language complications. The follow-up pathology revealed Sean's tumor was a cancerous, non-aggressive grade 2 slow-growing brain tumor. The remaining portion of his tumor will be treated to slow its growth, and Sean will be continually monitored for years to come.

The most valuable asset for Sean is time, and he has YEARS of monitoring, treatments, medical advancement, and above all, living his life to the fullest when he's healthy again. It is incredibly cruel and unfair, and we are heartbroken that Sean will have to deal with this for the rest of his life. We ask you to rally around Sean and foster an environment that is positive and full of love. We pray he has decades ahead of him, but if his time is less, we won't allow it to be spent woefully and disheartened. We can't control the outcome, but we can control the process along the way... please keep Sean in your daily prayers.

In just seven weeks, Sean went from a vibrant, fun loving 25-year-old with the world ahead of him to a life-changing diagnosis. He is unable to work, drive, and God only knows what medical costs he will incur. Sean and his family, along with his longtime girlfriend, Julia, have faced all of this with grace, courage, and faith. Sean has exhibited a positive spirit that has inspired SO many! Your donations will be used to assist in medical expenses and Sean's overall welfare during this period where he is unable to produce income.

Please continue to pray for all of them and consider donating to Sean to help him not worry about anything other than getting healthy and fighting this awful disease. Thank you!
