Support Sean Chase's Recovery from Pit Bull Attack

Hi, my name is Sharon Chase, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of pain, fear, and desperation. My husband, Sean, is the strongest man I know, but right now, he is broken—physically, emotionally, and financially—after surviving a brutal, unprovoked pit bull attack. We have been married for 21 years and have 3 sons. That peace was shattered when a newly moved-in homeowner illegally brought a pit bull into our community. Despite clear HOA rules forbidding aggressive breeds, they ignored them and this dog - putting the children, elderly, and everyone all of us in danger. We live a peaceful life with our children in a safe neighborhood, where we never imagined something so horrific could happen right in the front of our home. On what should have been a normal evening walk with our small dog’s name, Sean was viciously attacked. The pit bull lunged without warning, first targeting our sweet pup before turning on Sean as he fought desperately to protect our little one. The attack was relentless and lasted a little under 4 minutes. The dog tore into his arms and legs, leaving him with deep wounds, potential nerve damage, and unimaginable physical, mental and emotional pain. Two other people were also mauled by this dog during the same attack. The dog was unleashed and vicious. I can still hear Sean’s screams. I can still see the blood. I can still feel the terror in my chest. Since that ordeal, we have been afraid to step outside, anxious to check the mail, and scared to live our lives in the neighborhood we once loved.
For the past 13 years, Sean has dedicated himself to his trade as a Network Technician in locally and nationally. He was always working hard to provide for us and support those around him in his quiet, dependable way. Now, our family is facing an incredibly difficult time—Sean’s got bit twice, and his injuries have left him unable to work for the next 3 to 6 months, and the financial burden is overwhelming.
The City of Sunrise, the Animal Shelter and our amazing HOA has been working to safeguard our community. As a family, we are pursuing legal action, however our immediate focus is simply trying to regain stability in our daily lives. We are humbly asking for any financial assistance to help cover essential living expenses, mounting medical bills, necessary supplies, and legal representation. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we navigate this heartbreaking situation. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
