Support Scrawney’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
We are raising funds to assist our friend Robert (Scrawney) Swaney while he recovers from a near-fatal incident. On December 10th, he was found unresponsive in his home. After an emergency trip to the hospital, he was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator. The doctors did not expect him to recover. The doctor said that he had a blood sugar of 1800, no blood pressure, he was in ketoacidosis with very acidic blood, was hypothermic, and they could not get his body temp to rise. While in this state, he also managed to have a heart attack, and the doctors were worried his neurological damage would be beyond repair. By the Grace of God, he actually pulled through. The doctors were even amazed at the fact that he pulled through!
He is now home from the hospital but not able to work again because of lasting damage that has not yet reversed, including a completely numb hand that will not improve. All of his work is done with his hands in an auto shop at a car dealership. His insurance would no longer pay for an insulin pump that would help control his unpredictable blood sugar levels, which got him in this mess in the beginning. He is the sole provider in his home where he also has a 12-year-old daughter. His medical bills from the extended ICU stay and normal bills are all causing unneeded stress while he tries to heal from this situation.
If you know Scrawney, he is ALWAYS the first to help out. He never hesitates to help a friend or even a stranger that he sees in need. He would never ask for help and likes to be the one doing the helping. Let’s all pitch in and help meet his needs like he would (or has done) for so many of us!
