I’m not usually one to ask for help but Tuesday evening Scout had an appointment at the pediatric cardiologist for a small murmur they heard at her first appointment. Not thinking it would be anything serious we were immediately told to go to St Johns for abnormalities in Scouts heart. We were completely heartbroken thinking the worst. We get to St. John’s where they shorty tell us that we need to be transported to St. Louis children’s hospital to the ICU because Scout had an enlarged chamber in the left side of her heart. We get here by ambulance where she is hooked up to monitors, IV fluids, and all the things vital to her health. We are getting the best care at the children’s hospital and they are doing there best to figure out exactly what is going on with Scouts heart. Shes had a dozen sonograms, EKGs, and a cardiac catheterizarion where they ruled out the need for surgery. She is currently on a ventilator waking up from the sedation from the catheterizarion. We will be here for a least a week or so figuring out our next move, they are planning on trying heart medication to hopefully shrink the enlarged part of her heart and some genetic testing to rule out anything else.
