Scout Devries is a 2025 graduating Kodiak High School senior who ambitiously pursues her dream of becoming a NASA Space Task Group astronaut. Getting accepted into Cal Poly's astrophysics program is her first leap to achieving her goals. This summer, Scout arranged plans to commercially fish to help with tuition expenses and minimize any crippling student debt after college.

On May 23rd, two days before her graduation, Scout was involved in a moped accident on the way out to white sands that broke her left femur and cut a deep avulsion in her right leg. Overnight, she was swiftly medevacked to Ancourage for surgery.

Unfortunately, this means that her calculated plan to afford college has changed dramatically. Due to the severity of the injury, she will not be able to work this summer.
