My name is Scott, and I’m facing a challenging period as I undergo back-to-back surgeries and manage the financial strain that comes with them. On September 16th, I had a parathyroidectomy, and I’m now preparing for a left elbow reconstruction and bone graft to address a Brown’s tumor. The date for the second surgery is still to be determined, but both procedures are essential for my health and recovery.

These medical issues have made it impossible for me to work, and I’m currently on short-term disability, which only covers 60% of my income. The first week of my leave was unpaid, and each specialist visit and procedure comes with significant out-of-pocket costs, even with insurance. I also have to rely on ride share services for transportation to appointments, as I’m unable to drive and don’t have a local support system. My treatment requires travel to Vanderbilt in Nashville, as well as frequent trips to local clinics for labs, scans, and follow-ups.

The funds raised will help cover medical bills, copays, travel and lodging for out-of-town treatment, and local transportation for ongoing care. Some of these expenses have already accrued, while others are still ahead. I’m doing my best to stay afloat, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
