Hi, my name is Christine. I am fundraising for Scott, my brother. My brother thats turning 48 in June had a stroke. He woke up Saturday morning to go to the bathroom, but was unable to walk. He called an ambulance, but had to crawl up the stairs in order to get to the door to unlock it. They took him to the emergency room where his blood pressure was skyrocketing at 233. They couldn’t get it under control so they had to take him to the ICU so he could have an IV to get continuous medicine. Today he is waiting for a room out of the ICU as they have his blood pressure under control.
We have been told he had a stroke at the lowest part of his brain, which is a brainstem, which is right before your spinal cord. Due to this, he has double vision, which is causing him the inability to see messages from you and having to close his eyes often. It also affects his throat, which is causing his voice to be different and the inability to take down food. So they will be putting a feeding tube in a stomach that will be there for a minimum of six weeks.
They have planned a month of physical therapy. Should that not work? He has another alternative therapy he will have to do for another two weeks.
Symptoms of a brainstem stroke include: Double vision, Slurred speech, Decreased consciousness, and Vertigo or dizziness.
in which are all things that he has been affected by.
He is concerned about how this will affect him long-term, but hoping that he can get back to a more normal life soon. Meanwhile, he’s expressed concerned about the everyday bills he has to pay while he is unable to work. Although his medical insurance will pay for some, these bills will be added to his every day expenses. Right now we are unsure the complete details of how long he’s going to be in the hospital and where it’s gonna go from here. He will have to take it day by day.
I am asking for you to help me help my brother and relieve some of the pressure financially while he should be recovering. Any amount is grateful. I know he, himself, would never ask for this.
Scott is unable to read messages, occasionally has to shut his eyes due to vertigo. Also has struggled with talking on the phone. He is at Mercy should you want to see him. He doesn’t know I have started this for him and would like to keep
it a secret until he receives your generous gift.
I pray for his recovery and getting back to his life the best he can once again.
Thank you,
