On June 1st, Scott’s life changed in an instant when he was hit, as a pedestrian, in a serious car accident while on vacation. The impact left him with multiple traumatic injuries to his legs, ribs, spine, arms, and pelvis, requiring emergency surgeries and a long, painful recovery.

Scott spent 48 days in the hospital, navigating numerous surgeries, complications, immobility, and intense pain. When he was discharged, he still couldn’t stand or bear weight at all. He spent almost eight weeks at home completely non-weightbearing, relying on others for nearly every daily task while he waited for his body to heal enough to begin rehab. He then spent two weeks in inpatient rehab, where he began the exhausting process of relearning how to move, stand, and regain basic independence.

Scott is now home and continuing outpatient physical and occupational therapy. Many routine tasks are still difficult or impossible without assistance. His recovery will take many more months - and consistent, specialized therapy is essential.

Unfortunately, insurance is no longer covering the ongoing therapy he needs, leaving him with significant medical expenses to continue his healing journey.

Scott has been working incredibly hard since his accident, showing up to every appointment and following every plan his medical team has set for him. Physical therapy and occupational therapy are essential parts of his recovery, and his doctors have been clear that continuing treatment is the key to him regaining mobility and independence. Even though all medical documentation has been submitted, Scott’s insurance provider has stopped covering therapy. This unexpectedly places the full cost of treatment on him at a time when consistent care matters most.
