Hi, my name is Emily Samos and I’m raising funds on behalf of my brother, Scott Samos.
On Christmas Eve, my brother was the victim of a violent assault and robbery. As a result, he suffered multiple fractures to his face that required immediate medical care. This has been an incredibly traumatic experience—physically, emotionally, and financially.
Right now, Scott is focused on healing, but the recovery process will be long and painful. He is facing significant medical expenses related to emergency care, imaging, specialist visits, and potential surgeries, along with medications and follow-up appointments. On top of that, the assault has left him unable to work during his recovery, creating additional financial strain.
As of right now, Scott has seen an Optical and ENT surgeon and was told he doesn’t need surgeries for those specific areas, which is quite the relief.
Recently, we saw an oral surgeon to fix his bite, as the impact of the injury caused his teeth to shift immensely, limiting the kinds of foods he can eat and his voice. Scott is slowly integrating soft foods but has been on a mostly liquid diet. Surgery for his jaw will take place anywhere from 1-3 months from now; requiring them to re-break his upper jaw to get his alignment back into place. Healing time will take about 1-3 weeks.
No one should have to go through something like this, and it’s heartbreaking to see someone you love hurt in such a senseless way.

As we navigate through the financials for hospital bills, we are currently seeking funding for medications and recovery related needs, replacing stolen money, as well as lost wages during recovery.

In the near future, we may make the goal bigger dependent on what things won’t be covered via the Crime Victim Compensation Program .
Any amount—no matter how small—will help ease the burden and allow my brother to focus on healing instead of worrying about finances.
