On November 25, 2025, my family and I received the devastating news that I was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. The tumor is too close to my heart, making it inoperable. My life, and the lives of my loved ones, have been forever changed by this diagnosis. I have always been the wage earner and the fix-it guy for my immediate family. I live with my wife of 34 years, Tammy, two of my daughters, Bridget and Anna, and my granddaughters, Blakely and Ashlyn. Being both Dad and Papa has been my greatest pride.
My biggest fear is that my family will have to go without what they need because my doctors have told me I cannot work during radiation and chemotherapy. My treatments will last at least 6 to 8 weeks, possibly longer, and I will be traveling five days a week for radiation and one to two days a week to Strong in Rochester for chemotherapy. I have worked my whole life—most recently at Swain Resort, my favorite job ever—doing my best to keep my family comfortable. Now, I worry I won’t be able to provide for them as I go from being the provider to feeling like a burden. Treatments start next week, and while I intend to fight this with everything I have, the loss of income is a heavy weight on my family.
I raised four kids in Canaseraga, and now my granddaughters are just starting their journeys. I would greatly appreciate any help we can get. Your support will help my family get through this difficult time and allow me to focus on my fight against cancer.
