My son Scott, his wife, and four children, ranging in age from 10 to two months, have suffered a devastating life event. On January 8th, a neighbor alerted them to a fire in their garage. Everyone was able to exit safely through the rear of the house, and a fire extinguisher was not enough to contain the fire until the fire department arrived.
The fire department extinguished the blaze, resulting in extensive smoke and water damage to the interior of the home. Collapsed ceilings and soot have ruined most of what they own. A car, baby necessities, clothing, bedding, and family heirlooms, among a list of other treasured things, are likely headed to the trash.
The most important thing is they were all able to get out of the house safely.
We are setting up a GoFundMe to help cover daily expenses and essentials. Insurance is expected to cover house repairs and furnishings, but the estimate to get back into the house is nine months to a year. Most of their clothing, including seasonal clothing bins stored in the attic, are lost to the fire. Infant clothing and other necessities for their newborn, Christmas gifts purchased and received, the list goes on and on of the items that need to be replaced or remembered.
Scott, Lisa, and the kids are temporarily staying with family as they weigh their long-term, temporary living options while repairs are made to the home. Their immediate future will be life-changing, especially for the kids, emotional and financially challenging.
Your support will greatly assist in easing the burden on our family during this time. We are immensely grateful for your support and any assistance you may provide.
