Support AJ's (Scotter's) Recovery and Family Needs

Hello, my name is Kodie. I am here to share a story about why funds are needed for my husband and our family.

There was a recent car accident that resulted in my husband being rear-ended while driving our only car, a Honda 2000 Accord SE Sedan. The accident left him with multiple injuries and the car totaled.

So our current situation is that he needs time to heal, which means time away from work that will not be paid. We also need a new car and to keep paying bills. My job does not cover enough to make all of these things happen.

We just recently took over a mortgage from someone even though it was behind on payments, as we had been in a good place at the time to do so. So with this sudden life event, we will be stranded with little to no money for much of anything else because of regular things that money would go towards: mortgage, bills (power, cable, phones, water), current medical needs outside of this accident, and necessary items like groceries, toiletries, etc.

A little more about my husband, known to most as Scotter or AJ: He is a medical professional (Paramedic/Emergency Medicine) with the biggest heart, always willing to help anyone that he can and will give the clothes off his back to help someone that needed it. He is always willing to open his heart and home to those in need to help them get back on their feet and stable. We currently help support two other people in our home.

The parts that most people don't know about are his day-to-day pains and struggles. He suffers from chronic back pain and has a pain management plan for that to help him continue to be functional in life and his career. He constantly battles with depression/anxiety (of many types and sources) and PTSD. But through it all, he has fought harder than anyone that I have ever known to continue to make himself feel valid, needed, and wanted. He has the soul of a provider and caretaker, which makes him amazing as a husband and at his job helping other people in medical situations.

He did not deserve this tragic event that has him in more pain than he had previously or the added mental issues of more anxiety about something as basic as driving or even being in a car. Without the ability to work for a while, he feels like he is not providing for his family and friends as he normally would prior to this car accident. Being a caregiver and provider is a large part of who he is as a person, husband and friend!

To explain how the total funds of this attempt to raise money will be spent:

$5,000 - towards medical expenses. Obviously, this will not cover it all, but it will at least make it more comfortable to deal with things like co-pays, medical services, and prescriptions.

$5,000 - towards the purchase of a new car. This would not buy us an entire car unless we accepted something that might not last a while, but it will definitely make towards a good down payment.

$5,000 - towards everything else. As mentioned above: mortgage, bills (power, cable, phones, water), current medical needs outside of this accident, and necessary items like groceries, toiletries, etc.

This plan would make things easier for the situation but doesn't necessarily get us out of the hole that this accident has now put us in.
