Our dad, Scott Beranger, was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. He is also currently without medical insurance. Due to the urgency for treatment, he has already begun to rack up medical bills, even at the beginning of this long journey. He is currently recovering from his first surgery at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Then, he will start a long series of chemotherapy and radiation at Wentworth-Douglass, to fight the cancer and shrink the tumor, so it can be removed. Radiation and chemo will continue until we can celebrate that Scott is cancer free. All funds raised will go directly to the out-of-pocket costs that will be incurred. The debt will be... hefty. Our mom can not work or drive, and has her own medical bills that only exacerbate this financial stress. Certain portions of his cancer treatment must be paid up front. The money we raise will help with everything from treatment expenses, prescriptions, transportation, time away from work, and other needs that will arise over the coming months.
We know Scott has a large family and amazing friends that care about him, and we are sucking up our family's pride by asking for your help. (Yes, we know our dad will kill us....we are willing to take that chance.)
If you know Scott, you know he can only be described as an outgoing, exuberant, and hilariously like-able guy. He is always willing to help, but would never ask for the same in return. We'd like to see him kick cancer's "ass" quickly, and get back to mountain biking, skiing, telling terrible jokes, and playing with his granddaughters.
Taking any amount of financial stress off of Scott and Carolyn is the best way to help right now. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Amy and Kim
