Support Scott Whitmire's Covid-19 Recovery
Donation protected
As a mason working with concrete and heavy machines, Scott puts in a long, hard,
physically demanding day of work 5 to 6 days each week. Strong and in good shape,
it would take a lot to bring him to his knees. But when his family was exposed to the
Covid-19 virus in early September, they all tested positive. His wife, Diane, and son,
Mahlon, quarantined with minor symptoms. But Scott reacted to the virus in a way
that we all fear. Diane took him to the emergency room where it became
increasingly hard for Scott to breath and function. After several days, Scott was put
on a ventilator and an induced coma to help his body relax and get oxygen into his
lungs. We all feared that we would lose a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and
good friend. But with many praying for him and God’s blessing, Scott improved.
After eight days he was removed from the ventilator. However, the battle with the
virus caused him to be extremely weak, underweight, and unable to perform basic
functions such as swallowing, sitting, standing, and speaking.
Thus his road to recovery remains a long one of extensive rehabilitation. Scott has
channeled his determination, strong will, and fighting spirit to push himself to
progress at a pace that has encouraged and even surprised his medical team. His
driving force is to return home to his family and business and to normal life
activities. We are all anxious to see him return to his favorite fishing hole and to
hear him cheer from the sidelines at Mahlon’s games.
Meanwhile, the medical bills are going to arrive and add up. Being self employed
and out of work for several months to add to the medical bills will put a strain on
the family finances.
Please consider helping Scott and his family as he has a long road to full recovery
ahead of him. Thank you.
