Help Us Get Home: Reuniting After 10 Years Homeless

Help Us Reunite With Family and Find Stability After a Decade of Homelessness

Hello friends, kind strangers, and compassionate hearts,

My name is Scott, and I’m writing this with hope in my heart and humility in my spirit. For nearly ten long years, my partner and I — along with our five small emotional support dogs — have been homeless, fighting every day just to survive.

We are not without income. We both receive Social Security and disability benefits, but sadly, it’s not enough to meet today’s skyrocketing housing costs. Affordable housing has become nearly impossible to secure — we’ve been on waitlists in Illinois, California, Nevada, Oregon, and New York, and still, after all this time, we remain without a home.

We haven’t given up. We’ve done everything we can to keep going — because we have each other, and because our five dogs are more than pets. They are family. They’re certified emotional support animals who give us comfort during anxiety attacks, soothe our depression, and bring joy into lives too often surrounded by uncertainty and fear.

Now, we have a new reason to fight for stability: my mother-in-law’s health is declining. She’s battling not just physical issues, but also severe depression. We’re trying to return to Illinois to be closer to her, to give her the love and support she needs — and to finally start rebuilding a life for ourselves near family who loves us.

But we can’t get there alone.

We are asking for your help to cover:

Transportation costs for two adults and our five small dogs

Temporary lodging until we can transition into stable housing

Basic needs like food, medications, and supplies for the dogs during the move

We aren’t looking for luxury — just the chance to feel safe, to rest without fear, and to help care for the woman who once cared so deeply for my partner.

This fundraiser isn’t just about dollars. It’s about hope. It’s about showing that kindness still exists in this world. If you've ever struggled, or if you believe that no one should be homeless for a decade in the richest country in the world — we ask you, from our hearts, to please consider donating or sharing our story.

With your help, we can finally go home.

With deepest gratitude,
Scott, my partner, and our five little angels
