**Support Scott Millard in His Fight Against Esophageal Cancer**

My name is Michele Bryson, and I am organizing this fundraiser for someone who has spent his life helping others — Scott Millard.

For the past 25 years, Scott has dedicated his career as a teacher at Calla High School, working tirelessly with at-risk youth. Day after day, year after year, Scott has been a steady, compassionate presence for students who needed someone to believe in them. He has helped countless young people graduate, change their paths, and find hope for their futures. Scott didn’t just teach classes — he changed lives.

Now, Scott needs us.

Scott was recently diagnosed with **Stage 2 esophageal cancer**, and he is facing a long and difficult road ahead. True to who he is, Scott is approaching this challenge with strength, courage, and determination. He is ready to fight — but he cannot do it alone.

Scott’s treatment plan begins with **approximately four months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy** to shrink the tumor. Following that, he will undergo a very intensive and serious surgery called an **esophagectomy**. This is a major procedure with a long and challenging recovery. After surgery, Scott will require **24/7 care** and will need to stay in **Santa Clara** for specialized treatment and monitoring.

Recovery from this surgery is extensive — estimated at **up to 18 months**, including time with a feeding tube and ongoing medical care. As a dedicated educator, Scott has spent his career supporting others, but like many teachers, he simply does not have enough leave time to cover such a long absence from work. The financial burden of medical bills, travel, lodging, and everyday living expenses during this time will be significant.

Scott has always shown up for his students, his colleagues, and his community. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
